Thought: You are not your failures
There are a few reasons why many of us never take action on our dreams.
A lack of clarity, self-doubt, the comfort of keeping things the same, are examples of such reasons.
For me, it was a fear of others seeing me fail. But it took some self-discovery to realise that this was holding me back.
We launched the many roads podcast two weeks ago, and the support has been incredible.
But what if I told you that I’d known for over two years that this was something I was supposed to do. I even had friends who would occasionally ask when I planned to launc the podcast.
The truth is the idea of doing this seemed terrifying. Whenever I thought about launching the podcast, I would begin to focus on what others would say if it failed.
It took me two years to get to a place where I could detach myself from failures I experienced.
Through recent conversations, I've discovered that I wasn't alone. I realise that many of us think that any failure we experience is a representation of our value and self-worth.
It's not!!!
Failure is just the world's way of telling us to try again. It is proof that we tried and that there is a possibility for success.
It is not a reflection of who you are and what you have. It is not you and you are not it!
I would even argue that the most valuable people on earth are those who have experienced significant failures at different points in time but didn’t stop there. They saw it as an opportunity to try again, go again, improve again, launch again, sell again.
We can't control what happens in life but we can control our reactions. And your reaction to failure must be resilience.
Remember failure is proof of your effort. So keep going!
Soon your results will show for themselves.
Rooting for you always!
P.S. If you missed this week's podcast episode with Timi Abimboye, you can watch it here. We discussed his journey from failure to freedom. It's an inspiring conversation!
