1,000 "Experts" Can't All Be Right
We've never had a time when opinions were this accessible.
A practical example: Search “How to be a millionaire in 2025” on YouTube.
The results are outstanding! Over a thousand videos. A thousand experts.
Our world today is full of opinions, and through the internet and social media, they've become more accessible.
Search any major topic and you’ll discover that the world isn't lacking for opinions.
All of this has got me thinking about who I listen to.
I believe strongly that we are a reflection of the people we listen to the most.
Between a mentor you spend two hours with every month and your weekly 2-hour podcast, who do you think has more of an influence on you?
The podcast, of course! Because the consistency and length of exposure are higher.
This is not about every little piece of content you come across on your social feed. My focus is on the ones you consistently consume.
Whether or not you like it, your decisions, thoughts, ideas, and feelings are influenced by those you consistently listen to.
This is why I believe it is important to vet those you allow to influence you.
A lot of us are quick to open our minds and hearts to people because of their expertise.
But we fail to do our due diligence in terms of looking at their lives.
When last have you taken a closer look at the lives of those you allow to shape yours?
I've started asking myself this before I begin to listen to anyone extensively:
Is their life (in part or totality) an example of what I hope to have or become?
If it's a no, then I don't spend hours consuming their opinions.
We become what we see and hear!
We must be intentional about the voices we allow into our lives.
And I'm not saying they have to be perfect humans (no one is), but you can't listen to every opinion out there.
You have only one life to live
Live it intentionally by being careful about who you allow to shape it.
Rooting for you always!
P.S. If you have a business idea and don’t know what steps to take next, this week's pod episode is for you. You can watch here.
