Start small but think big

Hello, it’s Oba.

In today’s newsletter, we discuss why you should start small and think big.

but first, our random find.

👀 Random finds: Mary and her litle lamb 🐑

The famous nursery rhyme ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ is based on Mary Sawyer's real life story. Her teacher wrote the song after seeing the lamb follow Mary to school.

Quite interesting!

💡 Thought: Starting small is better when you think big

There’s a lot of advice on these internet streets.

They seem to say the same thing when it comes to this topic

They all tell you to start 'Start small.'

And I agree that this is great advice.

But no one explains the kind of mindset that you should have while starting small.

Yes, you guessed it. Think big! That’s the mindset.

Most people truly believe they don’t qualify to do great things.

I know this because I used to think that way.

We bought into the lie that greatness is only meant for some (A topic for another day 👀).

So we have no issues with starting small (because we see ourselves as small) but struggle with thinking big.

If there was ever a mindset shift you need, it's this one:

Greatness is available to anyone who dares to believe and work towards it.

Thinking big while starting small ensures that you:

  • Have a vision that drives your growth
  • Don’t get complacent with achievements
  • Are motivated for the next phase of your journey

Here’s an example of what this looks like:

This is a picture of Amazon's office in 1999 shortly after starting from Jeff Bezos’ garage.

The same company is now valued at over $2 trillion and operates in over 50 countries.

Jeff set out to build an online bookstore and continually expanded his vision.

He started small but had the thought of a global business in mind.

Now let's be real here!

I am not saying you should build the next Amazon (The chances of building a trillion-dollar business are slim).

What I’m saying is think bigger than your current reality as you build/create/develop.

If you aim for the moon you might land among the stars.

Start small because great things start small but think big because great things don’t stay small

💪🏽 Motivation

🔥 Actionable Tip

Imagine your life with no limitations. Think as big as you can.

Write down what that looks like and review it for the next 3 days.
