Thought: Rejection Isn’t the End

The feeling of rejection is something everyone can relate to, and many of us have dealt with it at some point.

For some, it might have been the rejection from an employer or admission into a program; for others, it might be their high school crush who turned down their proposal ❤️.

Everyone has a story to tell when it comes to rejection, but not everyone can say they understand how to deal with it.

Recently, I was on a call with a good friend and business partner. We were discussing the next phase of our business and strategizing our approach for the next milestone. After some thought, we decided to take a bold step even though it seemed scary.

As we were thinking through this decision my friend said something so profound. He said ‘Their answer will either be a yes or a no. If it's a yes we’ll know we are on the right path, and if it’s a no we’ll be closer to the next yes.

The mindset of champions. What a winning mindset!

He got me thinking about how the impact of rejection on our lives depends mostly on our mindset.

This friend and I had our application for a sizeable investment for our business rejected last year. We could have sat around complaining about the hours it took to prepare the application, the stress of waiting to hear back, and the fact that we were refused with no details or feedback.

But we didn't.

Instead, we concluded that this was a part of our story and in no way meant that what we were building wasn't valuable. We even joked that the day will come when we sell that company and look back at that moment with laughter.

Now this might not specifically be your case but I am sure there is some rejection you might be dealing with in one aspect of your life or another. And that rejection might feel like it is the end of that dream.

I want to encourage you to keep going.

Every NO is a step closer to the YES that can change your life. But you won’t get there if you stop everytime you are rejected.

Rejection can either be the roadblock that causes you to give up on your dreams or it can be the battery that powers your drive to the next level of success.

The choice is yours!

Rooting for you always.

Motivation

Take rejection as an eye-opener. Take it as something that pushes you and makes you do things better.

Random Find: Tasty Butterflies 🦋

A butterfly’s taste sensors are located on its feet, meaning when it lands on a plant, it’s essentially “tasting” it by standing on it—a unique way to decide what’s good to eat!
