I Failed. Here’s What Happened Next.

Most people are not honest about their failures.

I vividly remember the first business I launched. Everybody does!

It was a student service that helped international students find housing.

To put it simply, it didn’t work.

I made one vital mistake.

I chose a customer base notorious for wanting everything for free. Students!!!!

Eventually, I pivoted and made only about $300. (Story for another day 😅)

However, I felt like a failure for months.

Now I look back and laugh.

Not because it wasn't a difficult experience, but because I know better.

I've since had other ideas fail or not perform as well as I'd hoped. However, my mindset now is very different.

A lot of us struggle with failure.

We've been trained to hate failure so much that when it happens, we are almost delusional about its existence.

We fear what people might say and hide any traces of failure in our lives.

But what if I told you that your success in anything you do will largely depend on your relationship with failure?

The point of failure holds two truths, it is:

  1. Proof of effort
  2. Reminder that success is attainable

But the point of failure is not what really matters.

It's what you do after!

I heard someone say, “ Because I failed doesn't mean I am a failure."

This is the mindset I want to leave you with.

Failure can happen, but it doesn't need to define who you are.

The best approach (in my opinion) is to take the lessons learned and improve as you go again.

And please, share your lessons with others.

Helping other people avoid your pitfalls is another way to turn a failure into a win.

Don't let a point of failure be a resting place.

Let it define the path forward and be fuel for your next steps.

Pick up the pieces and move on. You've got this!

Rooting for you always!
