Thought: Optimism is for Winners
A couple of years ago, I heard a very puzzling question.
It was unlike anything I had ever heard and I still remember feeling very confused when I heard it.
I was watching a TV show where a man held a cup of water. The water was exactly at half the volume of the cup.
He then asked ‘Is this cup half full or half empty ?’
Now I know this is a popular question but at the time, it was a very new concept to me. I thought hard about the answer. I tried the logical approach like most of us and realized both answers could be correct.
Suddenly it dawned on me that this was a situation where there was no right or wrong, only different perspectives. But I would have to agree with former President Obama on this one 👇🏾
Over the years, I have slowly realized that being able to view life positively (in this case a cup that is half full) directly impacts our success.
Don’t take my word for it. Think about any successful person you know and examine their story. You will find that they have a positive outlook on life that can’t be stopped. They always took steps and actions assuming things would work out in their favour.
In our journey to success, we can’t afford to start with a negative mindset that is consistently expecting failure. This doesn’t mean we won't fail but our attitude must be that of a winner.
A winner keeps coming back, keeps getting back up, keeps believing that one day they will be successful. Losers on the other hand get knocked out and stay knocked out.
So here's the bottom line. There is no success without an infectious amount of optimism. It has to be so contagious that those around you start to catch it.
Simply put, you will have to believe that:
- Things work out
- Your future is bright
- Success is your reality
Remember, your positive outlook is a weapon in a world filled with much negativity.
Keep it locked and loaded!!!
