Everything Is Hard Until It Isn’t
On this week's episode of the many roads podcast, I spoke to Dr Anna Olanrewaju.
We discussed education, PhDs, courage in the face of uncertainty, and many more topics.
It’s a great conversation, and I encourage you to watch it if you haven’t already. (P.S. You can watch it here.)
One of the highlights of our conversation was when Anna spoke about her daughter learning how to walk.
She shared how her daughter would initially fall and stumble, but eventually, her daughter was falling less.
It reminded me of watching my son learn how to walk.
It’s a process filled with awe and fear. On one hand, you are excited about the developmental progress; on the other hand, you are afraid they could hurt themselves.
This duality is what I want to shed light on today.
Whenever you step outside your comfort zone to learn something new, you can expect to deal with these two feelings.
Half of the time, you’re excited by the idea of what you are learning, and the other half, you might ask yourself: ‘Why am I doing this?’
But the key here is to keep learning and progressing.
Like a baby walking, everything is difficult until you learn.
Whatever is worth doing will take some effort and will likely have a degree of difficulty to it.
Remember, this difficulty is only temporary.
The knowledge, skills, relationships, profit, and experience you gain will be with you for a lifetime.
Don’t run from difficulty, run through it.
Rooting for you always!
