Do More With Less Stress
Earlier this week, I was feeling quite overwhelmed with all the things I had to do.
Specifically, for the many roads podcast.
It felt like there were so many tasks to complete just to get this week's episode out.
P.S. You can watch the podcast episode with Reni Odetoyinbo (Reni, the Resource) here.
The feeling of being overwhelmed by the thoughts of all we have to do is one we all share.
At some point in your life, you might have even said the magical words “I wish I had more hours in the day.’
I know I have.😅
Success takes significant effort, and that effort is applied over time.
In this equation of success, effort can be increased, but time is limited.
You can’t ask for more time, you can’t wish it. We all get 24 hours a day. It is what it is.
I decided to step out of my feelings for a moment and ask myself what the best way to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
In the past, I had mapped out all the processes and steps for the podcast, but I forgot to plan the steps to publish weekly.
Many of us feel overwhelmed because we lack systems to deal with challenges.
These systems are not always technological. They can be simple habits, plans, steps, etc.
Here are some practical examples:
Challenge -You consistently run late to work because you can’t decide what to wear.
System - Set a reminder for 15 minutes before bedtime to lay out your outfits for the next day.
Challenge - You don't drink enough water.
System - Have a glass or bottle of water readily accessible to you throughout the day.
Challenge - You lose time doom-scrolling social media
System - Set up control apps that restrict your access after your daily limit has been reached.
As you read through these examples, I hope you realize that you have been creating systems your whole life to solve everyday challenges.
A system will not magically solve your problems, but it can significantly reduce the effort required to solve them.
In the equation of success, time is limited, but systems help us leverage our effort.
Create systems today and never be overwhelmed by tomorrow.
Rooting for you always!
